LEGENDS OF THE THEATRE HONORS

What Is The Legends of the Theatre Honors?

"The Legends of the Theatre Honors" was established to honor very specific individuals within the theatre community. Whereas the Marquee Awards honor superior achievement within each individual theatre season, "Legends" honors only a few individuals each year. Those individuals must have worked in some phase of theatre for a minimum of twenty-five(25) years and must have made some significant contribution to theatre in that time period. Not everyone will qualify for this honor. In fact, most people will not qualify since we search out those who have gone above and beyond in what they have achieved in their theatre careers. Our initial list of honorees will only be three(3) people.

How Are These People Nominated?

Each YACTA member theatre may nominate up to three(3) people for this honor. It matters not whether the individual is living or has passed away, as long as their achievements meet the critieria. These people may be from any phase of theatre such as actors, production personnel, crew, or office personnel. Upon nomination, each theatre must submit a written resume of each person's background, shows, and achievements along with a written statement for the reason for each nomination. Upon receiving all nominations, the YACTA members review and discuss each nomination and then, by secret ballot, vote on the final honorees.

When Are the Honors Presented?

The honors ceremony is presented each year in either February or March. Our initial ceremony will be presented on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the Youngstown Playhouse.
